Rancho Santa Margarita Lake is located along the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains just northeast of the 241 tollroad off Santa Margarita Pkwy. The City of Rancho Santa Margarita incorporated on January 1, 2000, and became the 33rd city in the County of Orange. The City has a population of 49,249.
The Lake is managed by SAMLARC (Rancho Santa Margarita Landscape and Recreation Corporation), and includes a 13-acre lake with swimming lagoon, 4 community pools and 10 community parks with numerous sport fields.There are also five other master associations, which include Dove Canyon, Rancho Cielo, Robinson Ranch, Trabuco Highlands, and Walden. These associations have parks as well, several of which have public access.
The 1.1
mile lake permiter makes for an ideal bike or jogging course, and Par Course stations for workouts every 50 or 60 yards.
The
lake is stocked twice annually, in Spring and Fall with Bass,
Catfish, Blue Gill and Mosquito fish.
There is shopping adjacent to the lake for groceries, specility shops, and lite dinning at the lakefront Wingstop.
